Catnapper® History

1886 Cleveland Chair Company (C.C.C.) manufacturers its first rocker and stationary chairs.
1933 W. Ray Jackson opens his Upholstery Company - manufacturing stationary sofas and chairs.
1936 First shipments to Sears Roebuck and Company.
1941 C.C.C. purchased by W. Ray Jackson. Ownership held by Jackson Family for over half a century. Currently one of the Largest family owned furniture companies.
1951 First shipments to Montgomery Wards.
1953 C.C.C. pioneered and produced America's "First Recliner" with a metal mechanism. Helped develop hardware with Dr. Anton Lorenz of University of Tennessee.
1964 C.C.C. markets "Catnapper®-America's Most Comfortable Chair."
1985 Catnapper® introduces Motion Upholstery and Reclining Sectionals.
1988 Catnapper® is "First" to introduce Drop-Down Tables to Motion Sofas.
1991 Catnapper® introduces Color Express® (In-stock Reclining Chairs, ready for immediate delivery).
1993 Catnapper® introduces Motion Express® (In-stock motion upholstery,ready for immediate delivery).
1994 Catnapper® introduces Chair Express® - (In-stock occasional chairs, ready for immediate delivery).
2000 Catnapper® introduces "X-tra Comfort" reclining Chairs for taller customers.
2003 Catnapper® introduces "Polaris" System - an "All Steel" reclining system - built to last.
